The beginning · 태교

A Korean tradition of care, for your family today

Taegyo means caring for the mother, relating to the baby and preparing the whole family for parenthood. It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Connection

Talking, reading or singing to your baby helps your voice become familiar. Your ordinary voice is enough; no special products are needed.

Daily practice

Small moments that fit a busy day: your baby’s nickname in the morning, five minutes of reading, a slow walk. One small moment already counts.

Partner and family

Taegyo isn’t Mum’s job alone. Partners, grandparents and older children help by sharing the load and joining the welcome.

One practice. The whole family.

Four simple practices

Care for the mother

Her rest, her feelings and her support come first. Care for the mother is also care for the baby.

Connect with the baby

Your voice, a partner’s story, a favourite song or a book read aloud can become part of your baby’s earliest world.

Include the family

Partners, grandparents and older children all have a role in welcoming the baby.

Small, real routines

Five quiet minutes a day that fit ordinary life. One small moment already counts.

Questions

Good to know

Who is Taegyo for?

Expectant mothers at any stage of pregnancy, together with partners, grandparents and anyone welcoming the baby. It is for first babies and second babies, and for families of every culture and faith.

How much does it cost?

The programme begins on 6 December 2026. The price will be announced soon. The pregnancy journal and the two guides are free.

What language is it in?

The lessons are recorded in English. The website will also be available in Bahasa Melayu and Chinese.

Does it replace my antenatal check-ups?

No. Taegyo is education and family support. It works alongside the care from your doctor, midwife or Klinik Kesihatan, never instead of it.

Is Taegyo the same as confinement?

No. Confinement care supports your physical recovery after birth. Taegyo happens during pregnancy and focuses on your wellbeing, your bond with your baby and your family. See the difference.

Wherever you are in your pregnancy

Your baby does not need a perfect mother.

Your baby needs a mother who is cared for, and a family learning to connect.

Having a hard time? Support is here, any time.
